My sister moved into her super-cool-senior-year-of-college apartment yesterday! She and Mom have been compiling, collecting, brainstorming and decorating for the past couple of weeks. I can’t wait to show you the finished product in a few weeks!
We have two new-ish jokes in our family that I think are appropriate for this conversation…
First Phrase: Sticky-fingers. Noun or Verb. A “sticky-finger” is a person who walks around your home and sticks their fingers to items they like, taking them home. You may or may not be aware if you have been “sticky-finger” -ed. This term came about when Allen and I bought our home, because I literally walked around my childhood home and took anything and everything I could get my hands on. Still do J
Also – This sofa is RAD. Dark green. Mohair. Armless. Whoa. I tried to “sticky-finger” it a few years ago and Mom wasn’t having any of it. Anna accomplished it, somehow.
And this comfy thing… Leather. Tufted. Good.
My fave! A killim
-ish rug from Pottery Barn.
Second Phrase: Mind-blending. Mostly a verb. Example: Mom – “I really like the layout if we organize it like this…” Anna – “Mom, you are BLENDING my MIND!” Anna just coined this phrase a few days ago when Mom was trying to change her mind about a piece of furniture, a rug or a piece of art. She meant it in maybe a not so nice way, but I think it’s nice to have your mind blended and totally flipped upside down every now and then! So we’ve coined it a positive phrase.
And finally, for the dining area, these super cute gingham cushions plus the Ikea tulip table
with some traditional wood and rattan chairs. Yes and yes. I want to move in to this place.
I can’t wait to see it all in real life in a few weeks, keep an eye out for Anna’s Apartment Tour!
