Baby Names

July 23, 2013

Are you guys excited about the royal baby? I have zero reason to be, but it’s such a happy occasion! Those Brits are having a great year. All this talk of boys and girls and baby names reminded me… Allen and I had a funny conversation about baby names over margaritas and fajitas the other night. We don’t do this often, since we’re not quite ready to start our family, but when we do… oh, boy. We talked about baby names, family names, our names, names in general, names that are awkward in middle school, names that come with a stereotype and so much more…

We have one name for an imaginary baby boy and I have a few baby girl names that I like. Do you want to hear them?

I really like family names, but I kind of feel bad if you give your first born a meaningful family name and then the second baby gets a fun, non-family name. Does that give the baby some kind of complex for the rest of his or her life? Eeps. I’m not even pregnant and I’m already worried about giving my future baby a complex. Anyway, here are the names I like right now… For a boy, Avery and George. For a girl, I love the name Eleanor but there’s no family connection, I just really love this name! And Marilyn, my grandma’s name.

Do you ladies have names for imaginary babies? What are your favorites? Family names or non-family names? Eeps! It’ll be interesting to see if they change over the next year or two!

Did you see?? They went with George! After reading this post last night, I immediately thought of you when I saw the name announcement today.
