Cheers 2013

December 23, 2013

I can’t believe 2013 is coming to an end! This has been a great year for our little family. We’ve grown and learned and loved together. We all feel nostalgic this time of year, so here’s a look back at some Curtis Casa highlights!

In January 2013, I got to go to Alt! It was an amazing and dare I say life changing experience. Plus, I quit my job in non-profit fundraising to pursue a different career in online content creation.  I freelanced and blogged and took photos. I networked. I blogged some more. It was awesome. (photo above by Justin Hackworth)

I got to spruce up my deck and do a fun photoshoot for the Home Depot Patio Style Challenge! My favorite part was all the plants we got to play with.

We got to peek into a few lovely Home Tours. (Two of my favorites are Cabell’s Artsy Haven and Anne’s In-Town Carriage House!)

We made some DIY dyed concrete pots.

We did some deep thinking, too. And we contemplated what community means to us.

I wrote for the Better Homes & Gardens Everyday Gardener Blog for the summer. You can find all my posts here.
We took an awesome trip to San Francisco! (photo below by KNW Photography)

I went to NYC to hang out with some of my favorite blogging friends and meet the editors of Better Homes & Gardens magazine. The BHG Stylemakers Event in NYC was a highlights of my year!

And possibly the best part of the year, I joined the blogging team full-time at Home Depot. It was big news for our family!

Then we sold our house and said goodbye to the first place we called home! (Man, that one was a tear-jerker.)

Thanks for an awesome year, 2013. And thanks to all you readers, too. I feel so lucky to have such an awesome group of online friends who stop by to say hi and catch up here on the web. I am so very thankful for you!

I’m going to take the rest of the week off and I hope you all do too. Merry Christmas! I’ll be back on January 1st with a fun surprise. The blog is getting a facelift and totally new look just in time for the new year! I can’t wait to see what the new year will bring. See you guys back here in 2014!

Merry Christmas to you too! What an awesome year you had! I am thankful that you took the time to help a fellow blogger out and I love reading all your blogs. You deserve to have the ‘job’ of your dreams (hard to call it a job when it is so much fun!). You are really lucky to love what you do and have so passionate for it. This year I turned 30, got married, bought a house, and sadly my mom passed away. It was a big year, to say the least. Happy, and sad, but memorable, nonetheless. I couldn’t have done it without all the support of friends and family, and I feel lucky to have those type of people in my life. My mom was able to be at my wedding, and that was probably the biggest thing that I am thankful for. I am hosting hubby’s family and my grandmom tomorrow in our new home, so that will be nice to have everyone here. I have to work Thursday and Friday, yuck, but I am working from home Monday and off New Year’s eve! Have a wonderful, fun-filled, holly/jolly Christmas with your loved ones!
