We got to spend a quick weekend in Chicago a few weeks ago! I was traveling for a quick work trip that happened to be around Allen’s 30th birthday, so we took advantage of it and Allen flew up to meet me for a quick trip to the windy city!
We crammed in as much site seeing as we could. We were lucky we could pretty much walk everywhere, we saw the BEAN (which is actually called the cloud?), Millennium Park, the Hancock building, a river cruise (it was cold!), the waterfront, and the cute brownstones. Our absolute favorite thing we did was the Second City Comedy Club. We went to a late show after a nice birthday dinner for Allen and it was SO, SO funny! We were truly belly laughing, those folks are so very talented.
It was a great little weekend trip. And 30th Happy Birthday, Al!
What a faaaabulous vacation! We had the best time in Mexcio last week. We were so ready to get in the sun, lounge by the ocean and sleep as much as we wanted. (We are so spoiled!) Allen and I were feeling drained from the last few months of settling into the new house and being really busy at work so we really needed some time to slow down and recharge.
We opted for an all-inclusive in Riviera Maya, between Cancun and Tulum. Our number 1 criteria for this vacation was that it had to be easy. We just wanted to get away! Allen and I had never done an all-inclusive together (I did them with my family growing up) and we wanted to try it. Plus, I honestly just didn’t have the time or energy to put toward hunting down great restaurants! A few friends suggested El Dorado Royale, so that’s what we chose.
It was gorgeous!
Since our hotel was only about an hour away from Tulum, we decided to adventure down to the ruins. You guys, it is SO pretty! It was really touristy, but it’s worth it to see the views. It was so hot that day, Allen and I were delirious. I’ve literally never been so hot in my life!
The whole trip, we basically spent as much time we could on the beach. I’m a beach kind of gal, ya know? I’m one of those people who believes you can lay by a pool anywhere, but you can only hear the waves and feel the sand at the beach!
I just love this guy right here! He makes me laugh all day long.
I read #GIRLBOSS, by Sophia Amoruso, in just a couple of days. It’s quick witted and funny, a great beach read.
It was such a great vacation. We are so thankful for some time away to recharge and be together. Thanks, Mexico! We’ll be back!
You all know by now that I’m just crazy about the ladies over at Better Homes & Gardens
. The trip last week in NYC was a dream and I want to share all the photos
! That would take forever, so I’ll refrain and share my favorites. Avi Gerver
was the energetic photographer for the day, snapping photos at every turn. (Thank you, Avi!) And a very special thank you to Kaelin and her team for their tireless efforts to plan, organize and hustle their way to a fabulous workshop and a chic party. You did it!
The event space was really chic. The wall of windows gave us a really neat view of the city streets, beautiful buildings and a pretty patio down below. There was also a really huge monitor mounted on the side of the building next door with a stream of gorgeous BHG photos and smilebooth photos from the event! You could take a picture in the smilebooth and it streamed across the building to the screen for everyone to see. What an awesome addition to a party!
Shout out to some of my favorite BHG ladies! Liz
, you are fabulous!
We got to hear from a fabulous panel during the party, moderated by Maxwell Ryan himself. Kayce Hughes, Eddie Ross and Annette Joseph shared stories from their personal careers and professional journeys, plus were just so charming and inspirational.
Thanks for such a great party, BHG! See you next year!
And here’s the cute video!
